Happy Happy Merry Merry

December 24, 2007

Hope you all have a great holiday. We’ve been enjoying staying in and hunkering down. Toby is getting a bit more predictable…of course his predictability will all change again in about two weeks, but things are smoothing out a bit. Sleep is a little better…but not regular yet. That is to be expected, I suppose and will get better with time.

There are some pictures after the link below…and more on our flickr page (

Statement for the Record

December 17, 2007

I gave birth to a ten pound baby nine days ago.
I put my jeans on this morning. They fit.

I totally rule.

(The preceeding has been another micro-update brought to you by the unshowered, sleep deprived mother of two boys)

Toban Frederick (will be called Toby) born December 8, 2007, 3:30 pm.
We’re home now, and though we’re all tired (okay, hubby and I are tired), everyone is doing very very well. All is well and happy. T is growing like a weed already…the pediatrician’s office showed a gain of nine ounces between discharge on monday and our visit on wednesday. Of course, scales are different…but the fact that he gained is the important thing. 🙂
Probably because he nurses every hour to hour and a half. But that’s getting better. Oy.

There are pictures of Toby and the fam on our flickr page, check it out:
We’ll upload them here later in the week….but for now this is your link to pictures. 🙂

Just a very quick update….I”m busier than a one-armed paper hanger….Big surprise!

Took the boys to the doctor today, all is well. Toby gained nine ounces since discharge from the hospital..he was eight pounds six ounces on discharge, and eight fifteen today…so breastfeeding is going well. 🙂 Yay! He pooped all over me, completely missing the doctor who was checking him out at the time (thanks, son!).
We talked AT LENGTH with the doctor about sleep…because Toby will not sleep when laid down. He can be fast asleep, we lay him down, and he wakes up and starts to cry. Scott and I have been sleeping in shifts at night. While I planned on not getting much sleep, I figured it would at least be in one or two hour bursts, as he slept a little then woke up to eat….but no. It’s really very difficult. So she gave us a lot of tips on sleeping and getting him to sleep. Makes me feel better. 🙂

Ben, unfortunately, has a cold….he has had a cough for over a week, but no congestion, so it’s probably just drainage. It’s really starting to affect his sleep, poor little guy…so we’re monitoring that and hoping that he gets that on the run soon. Ben was SO good at the doctor…we were there for easily an hour talking to the doc and getting checked out, and he was so, so very patient and such a good boy. I”m so proud of him. He is an amazing big brother.

In Case you haven’t heard…

Toban Frederick Randall (Toby)
Born: December 8, 2007, 3:30 pm
10 lbs, 21 in long 14 in head (we reported that head circ wrongly in the first Email)
9 hours of labor, start to finish, 10 min. of pushing

10 lbs…you bet your sweet bippy I used the drugs they offered…..

Everyone is happy and healthy, and everyone is doing fine. We have pictures of Ben meeting Toby and will post them later in the week. He’s pretty fascinated with his new little brother. Also, Ben got a ton of new toys this weekend from one of his cousins, so he thinks that babies come with toys…not an entirely bad way to introduce things.

We have a PLAN…

Preggo people are lazy posters…..

December 3, 2007

I’ve been a bit neglectful in my posting duties lately….well, really a bit neglectful in putting pictures on our Flickr site, posting, blogging, or doing anything that does not involve complaining about how this baby will not come out. So today I figured I would at least post some current pictures, because Ben has been turning on the charm lately and you all have been missing out like crazy.

A brief run down on Ben’s latest escapades, because things really are changing around here…Ben has learned how to work his shape sorter, and loves to try and figure out the more complicated shapes. Today he showed me at school that he knows how to put pegs in the peg-board…so he’s doing some great things with fine motor skills. Sitting is so old news now. 🙂 We’re working on texture and food stil, it’s a very very slow process. This weekend it all came to a screeching halt…we think that our luck with teething has come to an end and that he’s cutting one that’s a bit painful. Poor guy was all out-of-sorts all weekend and completely stopped eating anything that required chewing, even cheerios (which are a favorite food).

More updates soon. The pregnant lady has a very very short attention span…blogging is hard. 🙂

But there are lots of pictures….
